How to add Google plus widget to blogspot blogs.

Google plus is now becoming more popular day by day. But its new so not many widgets are available on google plus. Recently plusdev's have released Google plus widget for wordpress blogs. But what about blogspot blogs. Yes there is another service named as widget-plus that enables you to add a Google plus widget to your blogspot blog. Google plus widget is a widget that shows your profile picture and asks the users to add you to their circles. It acts similar to that of facebook's profile widget but it has an extra option of adding you to their circle. But this is not the official approach but the appearance looks great. So lets get started and see how to add it to your blogspot blog.

1. Lets assume that you have a google plus account.

2. Login to your google plus account and navigate to your profile.

3. There in your profiles URL you can find your profile's number that is displayed after the "plus.google.com/"

4. Note down that number and now fire up your browser to this page.

5. In that page click on the Get Widget button.

6. Now at the bottom of the same page you will see a settings box where you have to enter your Google ID which you got from step 3.

7. You can even include your feed and this is great in appearance when compared to the way that I mentioned in my previous post and even that was a long process.

8. Customize the widget to your needs and click the Get code button that appears in the place of Get Widget button that I mentioned in step 5.

9. Now you will get the code and a live preview of your settings. Copy this code.

10. Login to your blogger account. Navigate to Design > Page elements and add a HTML / Java Script element and add the codes that you got in step 9 and save it.

How to add your Google plus feed to your blog.

Google plus is now becoming more more popular and so many many new tricks are invading google plus and here is a new trick on google plus which may help bloggers. Most of you by this time must be in google plus. If you dont have one then feel free to ask an invite in the comments or contact me personally. Lets assume that you have a google plus account and you would like to add your google plus feeds to your blog (just like the twitter feed widget). Here is a way to do it. There is no official plugin for this widget but lets do this by doing some tweaks. Lets get started.

1. Login to your plus account.And navigate to your profile where you can find your # number. You can find your # number from your profile URL.

2. Now navigate to the following URL :

http://plusfeed.appspot.com/YOUR PROFILE # NUMNBER HERE

Paste it in your browser's address bar and dont forget to replace "YOUR PROFILE # NUMNBER HERE" with your own profile number that you got from step 1.

3. You will now see a page that shows some XML codes. Note down this URL and this is your feed's URL.

4. Now go to feedburner and enter the URL in the text box given there and click on the next button.

5. Now you will see a page where you can select a URL and a name for your feed enter your desired name and a URL that you feel as comfortable and click the next button.

6. And click the next button in the following pages too.

7. Now you will be shown a page where you will be asked to add your feed to blogger.Ignore that page and navigate to Publish tab on the top.

8. Click Buzz Boost in the left sidebar. Enter your needs and click on the activate button.

9. After you have activated it you will get an HTML code which you can add it to your blog to see your Google plus feed on your blog.

This feed will have a simple appearance. You can make some tweaks using CSS and add it to your site so that it suits to your site. But if your templates background is white then the default one will suit you.

How to star posts in Google plus.

Google plus is now evolving as a great social networking site and it has now crossed the 10000 milestone in the number of members in it. But facebook took upto 800 days to cross this milestone. So Google plus is considered as a Facebook killer by most of the people but a few think that Google has copied facebook. Yes of course it has copied some features but there are many new excellent features in Google plus and the best one is Huddles. So lets come to the topic.

Most of you must be in Gmail by this time and so you will surely know about the starring option which you can use to star some of your mails that you like and so that you can access those mails easily whenever you need it.

So why dont you star posts in Google plus. Yes ! you can do this easily. Here is a simple chrome extension that enables you to star posts in Google plus.

After you have installed it you are ready to go now.  But just take a look at the below points to use it more easily.

1. For seeing it in action just login to your google plus account and allow it to load completely.

2. After it has loaded completely you will find a star button to the right of the button. Just click on it to star it.



3. After you have starred it you will find the starred posts in the right sidebar just above the "People in your circles" tab.

4. Those starred posts will be available in the right sidebar so that anytime you can access that post by just click on the topic.

5. The disadvantage is that the newer posts that come into the stream dont have the star button and so you will have to reload the page each and everytime a new post comes in and if you wanna star it.
